Mud and conquering fears

This week the title of this blog should be mud! After several days of rain, there was mud everywhere. While my kids LOVED it, I am a little over it seeping between my toes. I am sure I loved mud as a child - my mom or dad would have to confirm. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, if there were puddles, they found them. That is the beauty of camping, right? Being outside no matter the weather.

Alyssa conqered her fear of Yogi. It only took 3 trips to Jellystone. She was quite proud of the hugs she gave him. Anna would still prefer to show her love from a distance.

We did get to have some pool time!

Getting ready

As a full-time working mother, I try to balance many things at one time. Today, I am trying to get us ready to leave this afternoon while also getting some work done. I was up late last night getting the camper cleaned and grocery shopping - it is always better to go without the girls. Now, I am at least trying to get the laundry done. You would think a short weekend of camping would be easy to prep for - it was before the little monsters :-)! Two people who weigh no more than 44 lbs together add a ton of luggage. Now we have take a couple outfits each per day, bathing suits, floaties, wagons, bikes, scooters and numerous other things they insist they need - or I should say Alyssa insists since Anna can't talk!

The year 2012

Last year, with a new baby and a toddler, Brian and I only camped twice. We went once in the spring to Zooland Family Campground in Asheboro, NC and once to Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC. As always we loved Ocean Lakes. Sadly, while we used to love Zooland....it just wasn't what it once was. I work full time so we like to take weekend trips to places within two hours of Charlotte, our home. This year we decided to plan out all of our trips for the year.

The Year of Yogi

For most of the year, we made reservations at the Jellystone Camping Resort in Marion, NC. We made our first trek in April. We LOVED it! It is a great place to camp with children. My kids, while not big fans of people dressed up as characters, love the rest of the experiences. And even though they won't go near Yogi, they love to look for him! We went again in June. This time we had our teenage son and his teenage cousin with him. They had a great time, too, despite the spotty cell service. It wa nice to see their text fingers get a break! We head out again this weekend and we cannot wait.
